Surface pattern design created from shibori hand-dyed samples, or inspired by the marks of shibori.

For over 20 years, I have been dyeing fabrics by hand. In the beginning, I studied shibori, Japanese bound resist methods, both from books and from the Masters themselves, including Yoshiko Wada and Yoshiko Jinzenji. Over time, fabric dyeing and surface design have taken over much of my career. Blending them together by taking hand-dyed samples and translating them into digital design, has been fascinating. This collection all stem from this process.
